An exploration of the assessment for intervention model in an Irish educational psychological context

The current research sought to explore the utility of Assessment for Intervention (AFI) model in bridging gap between assessment and intervention, through conceptual lens Bio-Ecological Systems Theory (BEST) Social Constructivist (SCT). AFI is a five-stage that aims provide useful evidence-based recommendations. An exploratory ‘two case’ case study was employed framework applied two referrals made school psychological service Ireland. A pilot conducted inform design. Participants rated Likert statements exploring propositions, before after application model. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted. Thematic analysis pattern-matching analyse interview data. findings suggest model, grounded BEST SCT, can address discussed literature. Implications policy practice educational psychology are discussed.
